'Mondays At Milano' Program Connects Cancer Patients To Beauty, Each Other
Monday, February 10, 2014BLOOMFIELD — Stephanie Dunshee of Torrington was 29 years old with a 4-month-old baby when she was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer.
Dunshee, now 34, is still battling the aggressive cancer, which has spread throughout her body – to her lymph nodes, ribs, every vertebrae in her spine. Recently, the tumors spread to her liver.
But sitting in a styling chair at Milano Salon and Spa on Monday morning, Dunshee was glowing. Salon co-owner and stylist Sergio Gurciullo went to work, snipping Dunshee's short curly hair and later styling it, describing to her what kind of product she should use.
